Qualifications and Knowledge: What Do You Need to Work in SEND Classrooms?

Working in SEND classrooms requires a skill set and knowledge base, that is unique to SEND Teaching Assistants. Specific qualifications may vary, it is desirable to have prior experience working with students on Education, Health Care Plans (EHCPs). In most SEND classrooms all students are on EHCPs, so having an understanding of these plans is essential. Schools will also require you to have prior experience of working in a SEND environment, a qualification in SEND or experience of working in a one-to-one setting.
